One of the endemic animals in Indonesia is Orangutan. They are found only on the islands of Sumatra and Borneo, both of which are part of Indonesia. Orangutans are not found anywhere else in the world, and their survival depends on the conservation of their natural habitat in these regions. The orangutan is the only great ape that is found outside of Africa and is one of the closest living relatives to humans.

Orangutans are also culturally significant in Indonesia, where they are considered to be an endangered species and are protected by law. The Sumatran orangutan (Pongo abelii) is found only in the northern part of the island of Sumatra, while the Bornean orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus) is found in the forests of Borneo, which is shared by Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei. Both species of orangutan are considered to be endangered, largely due to habitat loss from deforestation, poaching, and other human activities.

The Indonesian government has designated several national parks and conservation areas specifically for the protection of orangutans and their habitat. Additionally, orangutans play an important role in the cultural traditions and beliefs of many indigenous communities in Indonesia.

By joining Klotok - Orang Utan Tour I you will get a chance to observe and meet Orang Utan in their natural habitat, at Tanjung Puting National Park, Central Kalimantan, as well as supporting the rescue, conservation, and return to the wild.

The tour consists of 3 days. On the first day, you will arrive at Pangkalan Bun airport and directly transfer to Kumai village for boarding the houseboat to Tanjung Puting National Park. The houseboat is a traditional wooden river boat with a roof that forms the upper deck where you can view the rainforest as it glides by. The boat crew included the boatman, cook, and expert guide. In the afternoon, we will slowly explore the quiet river by the houseboat while observing the primates along the riverside. In the peaceful evening, we can do night trekking to explore wildlife, such as; tarantula, sleeping birds, frogs, mousedeers, insects, etc. The houseboat facilities; a mattress, pillow, fine meals, bottled "mineral" water, mosquito net, kitchen, and simple toilet available on the boat besides the familiar helpful guides and boatmen. Lunch, dinner, and staying overnight on a houseboat.

On the second day, after breakfast, we board the houseboat cruising to Pondok Tanguy to explore the rehabilitation center of the new ex-captive orangutans. Next, return to houseboat for sailing upward the creek to Camp Leakey where the older orangutans are reintroduced into the rainforest. At the station, you have the opportunity to trek into the rainforest with your expert guide and forest rangers to appreciate the flora as well as view wild orangutans, gibbons, macaques, and birds. In the afternoon, we proceed to the feeding station to see rehabilitated orangutans are given additional food. We will then sail back down the river and overnight on a houseboat. Lunch and dinner will be served on the houseboat.

The last day of the tour starts with breakfast at the houseboat and then cruising down the river into Kumai village while exploring the wildlife on the riverside. Afterward, drive to the airport for your flight to your next destination.
