A well known village with its dancing, wood panel carving and paintings. It is also famous as a place to see and lean about Balinese Compound. A traditional Balinese house, consists of a group of buildings constructed within a walled area called the “Karang Sikut Satak”. It is built according to a set plan given in detail by the “Hasta Bumi” lontar scrolls. (Hasta Bumi lontar) is one of the many books of Balinese traditional knowledge. The word “lontar” means dried palm leaf and is reference to the time when all writing was done on these palm leaves). These lontar scrolls not only indicate the placement, but also the function of each building and is further explained in the “Tri Hita Karana” which divides the land into three levels : main (utama), middle (madya), and low (nista).
Ubud Holy Monkey Forest Santuary
It is located in the central of Ubud Village. The rain forest inhabited by some group of monkeys and other tropical animals. Local people believes that these monkeys are Gods Guard of Dalem Agung Temple. There are three Holy Temples located in the forest.
It is the residence of Ubud King which is located in the center of Ubud and traditional art market just in front of it. The palace has a beautiful Balinese Cultural Architecture. Until now, the government and local people still recognize the existence of Ubud king and his power.
It is located in front of Ubud Palace in the center of Ubud Village. The traditional market is the place of society economics and its existence is always border on palace as artistic cultural life center. It is a very interesting shopping market in town.
A small area nearby Ubud which is exactly at Petulu Village. Nothing special when you enter this village. Shops, small stalls, local houses are the first view you will see. But, try looking up the trees that lined the road. You will see lot of storks perched on the trees or on a cable that ran along the road. It will be more interesting when you see the group of stork flying from one place to another place or from the rice field back to their nest on trees.
